EPO – evening primrose oil is obtained from the seeds of the evening primrose plant. Due to its rich composition (essential unsaturated fatty acids: gamma-linolenic acid GLA, linoleic acid LA, phytosterols, vitamin E, zinc, calcium, selenium, magnesium, amino acids) it has multiple strong and well-documented health benefits:

EPO supports the immune system. The high content of omega fatty acids (GLA and LA) protects against diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract, facilitates cleansing the body of toxins and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Evening primrose oil supports the cardiovascular system. The GLA fatty acid contained in EPO has anti-aggregating properties (reduces platelet clumping), improves blood flow in blood vessels, inhibits the development of atherosclerosis and lowers blood pressure. Thanks to this, it reduces the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack and stroke.
It is used in the prevention of cancer. Studies show that fatty acids play an important role in the prevention of cancer. The fatty acid GLA fights cancer-causing cells and limits their ability to reproduce. It is particularly helpful in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
It improves the digestive process. Evening primrose oil improves metabolism and makes it difficult to build body fat. GLA acid activates brown adipose tissue, which burns unnecessary fat and helps to reduce body weight. In addition, it alleviates the symptoms and effects of digestive system dysfunction (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome)
It helps with women’s ailments: fatty acids, vitamin E and magnesium contained in EPO affect the female hormonal balance, significantly reduce menstrual symptoms (PMS, painful menstruation, breast swelling) and menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, excessive sweating, mood swings) .
It improves brain function: the appropriate level of fatty acids supports brain function, strengthens cognitive abilities, improves mood, concentration and memory. Evening primrose oil, due to the very high content of fatty acids, plays an important role in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis).
EPO is effective in the treatment of skin diseases. Evening primrose oil used externally supports the management of various types of skin abnormalities, such as redness, irritation, itching, eczema, acne, or seborrheic dermatitis. Due to its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory effect, it inhibits the ageing process of the skin, helps to maintain its proper structure and elasticity.
The effects of evening primrose oil are visible after prolonged use in doses of at least 1.5 g per day.
Contraindications to taking evening primrose oil:
– age under 12 years
– hypersensitivity to active substances
– taking antiplatelet drugs or anticoagulants.
